My mate Tony Ward emailed me to say that he liked the website and all that, but that I ought to have at least one picture of a Handsome C**t on here. I was confused. I'd never caught or even seen one, so I wasn't entirely sure what he was on about. So I typed it into Fishbase, and strangely it came up with no matches at all. So then I typed it into Google. Google found about 720,000 matches, Latin name probably Labia majora. But in the end I decided I couldn't put any of the pictures it found there on here anyway without getting a visit from the Flying Squad. And the fact that at least some of the images resembled fish (well, kipper) just confused me even more. Finally, tired, frustrated and at the end of my tether I emailed him back, moaning about a search in vain. But as you can see, thankfully Tony said he could help me out by sending a few pictures. Looking at his photos I now realise I've badly missed out over all those the years on the bank. Can there be any finer sight in angling than a fresh-run Handsome C**t- bristling with sea lice along the flanks and a thick sponge of spawning tubercles around the vent? I don't know about you, but I'm lobbying for a nationwide restocking policy. |
